Half of the taxpaying populace dreams of leaner government services if it translates to lighter tax burdens. One-third opts for status quo taxation for status quo amenities, while 16% clamor for more services, even if it means digging deeper into their pockets.

Value, that elusive specter, haunts the minds of taxpayers. Only a quarter find solace in their contributions, while a third decry the poor return on investment. For four in ten, their verdict? Neither commendable nor condemnable.

Finally, and worryingly, understanding, that rare gem, eludes the grasp of many. Few possess the arcane wisdom required to decipher the enigmatic algorithms of local property tax or federal income tax.
