LSEG Hires Brigitte Trafford as Chief Comms & Marketing Officer

The London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) recently announced that it has secured a Chief Communications and Marketing Officer, with Brigitte Trafford joining the Group to take on the newly created role.

In addition to taking on the new role, Trafford has become a member of the LSEG Executive Committee and reports to the Group’s CEO, David Schwimmer. As Chief Communications and Marketing Officer, she will be in charge of the company’s Communications, Government Relations, Regulatory Strategy and Marketing functions.

According to the statement released on Friday, Trafford joins LSEG with more than 25 years of experience in Corporate Affairs. Most recently, she was the Chief Corporate Affairs Officer at Virgin Media.

Commenting on the appointment, David Schwimmer, the CEO of LSEG, said in the statement: “We are delighted to welcome Brigitte to LSEG. The Group will benefit greatly from her deep global corporate affairs experience. Her knowledge of both the financial services and TMT sectors will be critically important as we integrate the Refinitiv business post-close.”

Earlier in her career, Trafford held similar roles in Corporate Affairs at ICAP, Lloyds Banking Group and ITV plc. Prior to this, she worked at Dow Jones where she led the firm’s global communications from New York.

Currently, Trafford is a member of the global advisory board of NewsGuard Technologies, a company that issues trust ratings for news websites.

“I’m excited to join London Stock Exchange Group at such a transformational time. Its critical role at the heart of the international financial community has never been more important,” Trafford added in the statement.

With the appointment of Trafford, Gavin Sullivan, the Group Communication Director and a member of the LSEG Executive Committee, will be leaving the company. According to the company, he has decided to leave the Group at the end of the year following a transition period.
